What you will do!

In this role you will monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing and recording daily animal health observations/concerns. You will also perform all animal husbandry duties including cage change, set-ups, cage wash including equipment use (cage washer, autoclave, water production), sanitation and quality assurance. You will maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing.  You may also be involved in maintaining and following breeding/weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels and manage a small breeding colony. You may also assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as needed including receiving, inspection and housing incoming animals.  Use applicable software for the tracking of animals including census and generation of cage cards.


Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a High School diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred. A minimum of 1 year directly related laboratory animal experience in an AAALAC accredited facility is required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. AALAS certification at the ALAT level or above preferred. Proficiency with rodent identification methods, and maintaining rodent breeding records and good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

The pay range for this position is $26-29.67 per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
