We are seeking an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in South San Francisco, CA. 
  

As the Animal Care Technician I, you will work with our research animals to ensure they are well cared for. 
 
Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Monitor daily animal health and welfare when performing daily animal health observations.
  • Perform animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals, to include perform daily water bottle /automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.
  • Perform cage wash duties and sanitation.
  • Maintain accurate records of room logs, health case logs, animal breeding, and support areas as required by Institute and facility.
  • Perform rodent restraint, handling, and technical manipulation as assigned by the on-site Supervisor or facility veterinarian, to include health case treatments, identification, genotyping, health surveillance sampling, and euthanasia.
  • Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animal shipments and supplies.
  • Operate equipment and use supplies according to guidelines.
  •  Perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures.
  • May provide study support on non-invasive techniques including, but not limited to, animal fasting, body weight, food and water measurement, mating, plug check, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
