What you’ll do
We are seeking a Histology Technician I for our Safety Assessment site located in Frederick, MD.
The Histology Technician I will perform basic histology laboratory procedures, participate in the documentation of all activities as required, and assist with shipping and receiving of samples.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with and perform basic histology procedures (trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping)
- Receive samples, complete tracking documentation, and prepare pathology materials and data for shipment and archiving
- Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality control requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent in a biological science preferred
- 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to must regularly lift, move, manipulate, &/or hold heavy objects up to and including 50 pounds
- Must be able to perform laboratory procedures, which require, talking, hearing, standing or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, using appropriate instruments, reaching with hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations & company standards
- Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, & the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment:
- Works in a research laboratory environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts
- Works in or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles
- Works at noise levels ranging from quiet to moderately noisy
Corrected Pay Range: Starting pay $20/hour.
