The Technician I is in training to perform and become proficient in on-boarding skills, procedures, and cooperating in a team environment. The technician is learning basic skills required to support study conduct which may include cage change out, animal handling, husbandry, observations, basic physiological indices, and data collection/recoding to support each skill.

The Technician I is in training to perform and become proficient in on-boarding skills, procedures, and cooperating in a team environment. The technician is learning basic skills required to support study conduct which may include cage change out, animal handling, husbandry, observations, basic physiological indices, and data collection/recoding to support each skill.

Essential Functions (The fundamental Duties & Responsibilities of the role products and services provided/results accomplished) include, but are not limited to, those listed:

  • Ensure good welfare and humane care for all animals worked with through gentle, positive human-animal interactions.
  • Train in on-boarding skills which may include animal husbandry needs, animal handling, cage manipulation, and movement, equipment storage/tracking, wash systems, and water delivery system maintenance for various species throughout the site. Specific skills will be based on each area’s training plan and business needs.  
  • Collect, document, review, and verify data on forms, or in electronic data capture systems.
  • Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality control requirements.
  • Vivarium PPE stocking, and facility cleaning.
  • Use and maintain instrumentation and equipment.
  • Skill plan completed for this role based on department training plan.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
