We are looking for an Animal Care Technician II (Rodents) to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Dixon, CA.

What you will do!
In this role you will monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing and recording daily animal health observations/concerns. You will also perform all animal husbandry duties including cage change, set-ups, cage wash including equipment use (cage washer, autoclave, water production), sanitation and quality assurance. You will maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing. You may also be involved in maintaining and following breeding/weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels and manage a small breeding colony. You may also assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as needed including receiving, inspection and housing incoming animals. Use applicable software for the tracking of animals including census and generation of cage cards.
In addition, you will work closely with the Veterinary Staff, assist with animal sample collection and other in vivo procedures as assigned by the on-site facility veterinarian or veterinary staff member. Provide daily service to the researchers to ensure study animals receive medicated diet and/or water and any other special housing requests outlined in their study protocol. Direct communication and interaction may be required between employee and researcher. Perform a variety of technical procedures on rodents, such as, ear tagging, shaving, blood collection, tissue sampling, glucose monitoring, fasting, etc.

Who are we looking for?
A candidate that possesses a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred. A minimum of 2 years directly related laboratory animal experience in an AAALAC accredited facility is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. AALAS certification at the ALAT level or above required. Proficiency with rodent identification methods and maintaining rodent breeding records and good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
The pay range for this position is $26.70 per hour.
