- Education: High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred.
- Experience: One or more years directly related rodent laboratory animal experience in an AAALAC accredited facility.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the ALAT level/CALAS preferred.
The pay for this position is $26.00 – $29.00 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in South San Francisco, CA.
In the Animal Care Technician II role, you will observe, monitor, and document the health and physical environment within the animal facility. Perform animal care and husbandry.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Review, comprehend and comply with all SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to laboratory animals for research.
- Monitor daily animal health and welfare when performing daily animal health observations.
- Perform animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals, to include perform daily water bottle /automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.
- Perform cage wash duties and sanitation.
- Maintain accurate records of room logs, health case logs, animal breeding, and support areas as required by Institute and facility.
- Perform rodent restraint, handling, and technical manipulation as assigned by the on-site Supervisor or facility veterinarian, to include health case treatments, identification, genotyping, and health surveillance sampling.
- Handle sanitation duties such as trash disposal, cleaning and sanitizing following appropriate SOP's.
- Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animal shipments and supplies.
- May be involved in maintaining and following breeding and weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels.
- Perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures.
- May provide study support on non-invasive techniques including, but not limited to, animal fasting, body weight, body condition scoring, clinical scoring for health and welfare of study animals (including post-surgical and aging rodents), food and water measurement, mating, plug check, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
