Supply Management and Breeding Support Technician 1Work with Purpose

Explora BioLabs Inc., a Charles River Lab Company, is seeking a Supply Management and Breeding Support Tech position located in the office in La Jolla, CA. 

This position will provide support for the Animal Care and Breeding team by keeping vivarium stocked with essential supplies and general maintenance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

 

Inside the vivarium

• Maintain supply levels
• Monitor and maintain feed freezer
• Prepare disinfectant for vivarium
• Maintain and clean euthanex chamber
• Monitor gas levels and replace gas tanks as needed
• Gather room logs and provide new logs to all rooms monthly
• General housekeeping, sweeping, mopping.
• Trash removal
• Monitor and maintain safety equipment

•    Euthanize animals as needed

Outside the vivarium

• Order supplies/Inventory management
• Receiving supplies
• Restocking/Rotating stock in outside storage areas
• Preparing supplies for autoclave, run autoclave
• Maintaining PPE supplies
• Preparing disinfectant 
• General housekeeping of storage areas, locker room, breakroom.
• Monitor and maintain feed freezers
• Monitor feed room temperature

 

Other duties include

• Receiving supplies on loading dock and bringing into facility

Education and Experience 

 

Education 
•    High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements: 

• Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.
• Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.

•    Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Special Conditions of Employment: 

• Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work. 
• Must be willing to work with infectious biologics (BSL-2 conditions).
• Must be willing to work weekends and evenings if necessary.
