What you’ll do
We are seeking an Animal Care and Breeding Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in La Jolla, CA.
As the Animal Care and Breeding Technician I, you will be at the forefront of projects focused on rodent breeding programs, ensuring compliance with SOPs, animal husbandry standards, quality standards, customer expectations, production goals. This role requires the candidate to be highly motivated and work independently in a fast-paced work environment.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Maintains quality performance of services within client expectations including meeting/exceeding standards with regards to animal health and welfare.
- Manages assigned standard rodent and transgenic mouse breeding colonies.
- Responsible for accurate computer records of mouse colonies.
- Monitors genomic conformance to breeding standards.
- Reserves, selects, and accurately packs animals following established shipping procedures.
- Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met.
- Ensures implementation of all current SOPs.
What you’ll need
The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care and Breeding Technician I position.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 1-2 years of experience as an animal technician preferred.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in related field preferred.
- AALAS Certification a plus.
The pay range for this position is $22-24 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
