What you’ll do
We are seeking a Animal Resource Assistant for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, Nevada.
The Animal Resource Assistant is responsible for assisting the Animal Resource team in the documentation and management of all processing events of newly arrived animals, quarterly physicals, bleeds and other related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform technical duties associated with processing events such as administration of various therapeutic agents using different modes of administration (IM, Topical, PO…), and other tasks as appropriate.
- Perform and be proficient in basic veterinary technical skills (i.e. record for physical exam, initiate clinical, veterinary observations, etc).
- May provide environmental enrichment for laboratory animals according to facility and Federal guidelines.
- Perform animal follow-up observations as required.
- Monitor animal heath, visually and by following detailed schedules.
- Maintain accurate record keeping procedures for the veterinary department.
- May assist in acclimation and behavior management of animals in our care.
- Proficient animal restraint techniques.
- Observe animals and report health and behavioral abnormalities.
- Assist the Animal Resource team as appropriate
- Participate in weekend coverage and/or on-call rotation.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
- Experience: no previous experience required
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
