What you’ll do
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician I for our Maintenance & Facilities team at our Safety Assessment site located in Ashland, OH.
A maintenance technician will perform basic routine preventative maintenance throughout the facilities. Responsible for gathering and transport of hazardous and bio-hazardous waste to and from facility accumulation points.
Essential Functions (The fundamental Competencies/Skills & Responsibilities of the role (products and services provided/results accomplished) include, but are not limited to, those listed:
- Perform basic facility and equipment maintenance (e.g., construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, vehicle upkeep, floor/wall coating/painting, cage repairs).
- Secure facilities (open and close procedures) on a rotating basis. Respond to after-hour security calls.
- Perform monitoring and basic operating functions for the Building Automation System (BAS).
- Operate and maintain the facilities digester. Responsible for waste removal.
- Perform scheduled inspections/repairs on assigned facility systems.
- Clean assigned areas (e.g., maintenance building, boiler rooms).
- Maintain appropriate maintenance logs and other required paper documentations.
- Participate in snow removal and ice remediation activities such as shoveling and spreading deicing agents on walkways and parking lots, where site weather conditions necessitate.
- Assist in moving equipment and office furniture within the facility or between sites.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
The pay for this position is $21/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location
What you’ll need
(Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to accomplish the essential functions) include but are not limited to:
- Education High School diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent. Additional training/education in construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing desired.
- Experience: 1-3 years preventative facility maintenance experience. Promotion to Maintenance Technician II will be considered with proficiency in two of the below skills/competencies, paired with exhibiting our CRL core values of Care, Lead, Own, Collaborate:

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Certification/Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
- Other: Must be able to understand and follow verbal directions. Must be able to operate assigned maintenance power tools and equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle tools and maintenance equipment.
- Frequent reaching, bending, pulling, and crouching is required.
- Frequently lifts bags weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Frequently climbs ladders, kneels and/or lied on concrete flooring.
- Walks or stands for up to 90% of the workday.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to wear protective clothing (goggles, face shield, surgical mask, respirator, cap, gloves, scrubs, steel toed boots).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work in high/precarious places, tight or confined spaces, and in outside weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work with and/or near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, toxic or caustic chemicals and biohazards, and live animals with risk of exposure to allergens and/or zoonotic diseases.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, unpleasant odors, wet, humid and/or extreme temperature conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally is exposed to vibration.
COMMENTS:
- This position requires participation in 24-hour on-call rotating duty (full week at a time).
- Weekend and holiday work required.
- Occasional domestic travel required.
