What you’ll do
We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Technician II (part-time) to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Hamden, CT.
As the Animal Care Technician II, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to perform daily animal health observations, as well as animal husbandry duties, to maintain quality and health of research animals.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Performing water bottle/line and cage checks, providing food and water, performing cage changes and/or cage cleaning.
- Maintain accurate records of things like animal breeding, health, housing/isolator, or support areas.
- Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals.
- Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species.
- May become involved in the breeding and weaning procedures.
- Monitoring personnel and equipment entry into various rooms, as well as operating required equipment and general housekeeping, when required.
What you’ll need
The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician II position:
- High school diploma or general education degree
- 2 years directly related laboratory animal experience in an AAALAC accredited facility
- Must obtain ALAT within 18 months of hire
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
The pay range for this position is $25-27 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
