What you’ll do
We are looking for an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.
In the Animal Care Technician 1 role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to monitor, observe, and record animal health and welfare daily, as well as complete various standard animal husbandry duties.

Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing.

Follow all procedures to maintain housing areas, including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas.

Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals; and operating equipment following all safety guidelines.

You may also be involved in the breeding and weaning program, performing various duties from weaning and sexing, to ensuring appropriate production levels are met.

Work cooperatively with the on-site supervisor and/or facility veterinarian to assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species to include mice, rats and other rodents and possibly rabbits.
What you’ll need
- High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required.
- Six (6) to twelve (12) months related experience in animal husbandry.
- Interest in achieving ALAT certification upon eligibility
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
The pay range for this position is $23-25 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
